Main fields of research and expertise
Alain Pierret is a research scientist with 30 years of experience, mainly in the fields of plant and soil sciences. Alain current works as research scientist with IRD at the GET laboratory in Toulouse, France. Throughout his career, Alain has developed a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches to untangle the complex interactions between land use and biogeochemical cycles in the critical zone, and ultimately their impact on soil ecosystem services. Having worked in Southeast Asia for almost two decades, Alain has had the opportunity to work in partnership with many national research actors in agronomy/environment, health and social sciences, both in Laos and Thailand, which puts him in a privileged position to understand the challenges and opportunities for the development of sustainability science approaches in this region.
