Main fields of research and expertise

Dr Evelyne Micollier is a social anthropologist specialized in Asian studies. She was the scientific manager of a research programme based in Beijing in partnership between IRD-Peking Union Medical College/Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences about medical research/pharmaceutical development in biomedicine and Chinese medicine, research ethics, global health, gender/sexuality, and governance issues in the context of HIV and AIDS epidemic (2006-2011). She developed projects in Lao PDR (2012-2017) related to mother and child health, infectious diseases such as malaria and HIV in partnership with the University of Medical Sciences; she also did research on sustainable development, natural resource management and environmental justice. Currently affiliated at CESSMA (University Paris Cité-IRD-INALCO) in Paris, she is coordinating a research team working on “Knowledge, power and territory issues” including a cluster focusing on health and environment.
